| | Good Morning, Sunshine [Layla & Mafia] « Thread Started on Jul 29, 2008, 5:20pm » | |
Two in the afternoon and the only thing she could currently hear on the other side of the bedroom door was the heavy sound of snoring. Layla’s frown deepened as she pulled her ear away from the thick oak doors, straightening her posture and readjusting the sterling silver breakfast…no, technically it was brunch now…platter in her arms. Her free hand curled to knock lightly a few times upon the door, listening for any sign of life on the other side. Nothing. Dead silence. Really, had she been expecting anything less? Sometimes she wondered if Mafia was really half the adept Mafioso he was rumored to be, but most especially at times like this. For years, both she and Aaron had nagged him endlessly about his terrible lazy habits, but to no avail. He wasn’t about to go changing any time soon and although it would likely be the death of her, she kind of preferred it that way.
“Boss~u! It’s time to wake up. You’ve got a meeting in an hour and a half that you absolutely can’t miss!” Aaron would have her hide if Mafia missed that meeting since he actually charged her with the responsibility of waking their sleeping boss this afternoon. Of course, she also had other things on her mind that she wanted to speak to him about…private things…like the disappearance of her fifth fiancé. Not that she was complaining, but still, she didn’t know whether or not to be insulted or thankful. It was her mother’s idea to continue to vainly arrange these little betrothals behind her back, though her father thought that it was rather pointless. Still, he went along with it only to appease her since, as she reminded them all day in and day out, her only wish was to see Layla settled down and popping out chubby little grandchildren for her to fuss and fawn over. Ugh! The mere thought of it disgusted her, simply for the fact that she wasn’t suitable for that sort of lifestyle. She was way too independent to play the role of the faithful wife and loving mother. In addition, she secretly had her heart set on only one person and he was totally oblivious to her feelings.
Twisting the handle to the bedroom with her free hand, she pushed the door open with her hip and slithered in through the small crack with a sigh as the snoring only increased in volume. Kicking the door shut behind her with one heel, she scooted over to the finely polished side table to set the tray table down before approaching his bedside with her hands firmly planted upon her hips. Tapping her heel a few times while attempting to give the lump in the bed that was Mafia the most reprimanding look she could muster, she sighed and extended one hand to shake him lightly. “Boss~u!….Boss~u!!…” No choice. Desperate times called for desperate measures! Climbing onto the oversized king bed upon her knees, her heeled pumps fell off with a clatter as she shook him a bit more forcefully, shaking the bed in the process. “Mafia! It’s two in the afternoon! You’re going to be late! Please get up! Don’t make me beg!”
